Variable rate is a better coil if you're not constantly loaded as the initial 1" of travel is still soft and gets progressively stiffer. This will always be a better option for a daily driver that sometimes has a load and sometimes doesn't. The constant rate coil is better for when you have a constant load on the truck which never changes.
