I have a 1966 Valiant with a 225 engine. Which is better rear spring 78-585 or 78-705 when I want the original softness and ride comfort as much as possible.

Those 2 leaf springs are almost identical as far as ride. The main difference is the front eye bolt. The 78-585 uses a 1/2" bolt and the 78-705 uses a 5/8 bolt in the front eye. You'll want to see what size bolt is in the front of of your Valiant and order the spring which matches. Typically a 1/2" bolt will use a 3/4" socket or wrench on the head and nut while a 5/8" bolt uses a 15/16" socket or wrench.
