Couple of factors come into play. First, the pack thickness is 3-5/8" on the standard leaf spring and 4" on this heavy duty leaf spring so 3/8" difference. If you have that much thread sticking out above the nuts then you could reuse the u bolts. Next factor is the condition of the u bolts. If they're more than a few years old would suggest replacing them even if you do have enough thread.
